Privacy — Your finances are yours

iClara PFM is built to be simple and private. By design, your transactions, sources, categories and settings remain on your device unless you explicitly export or share them. This page explains how data is stored and what happens when you export or share diagnostics or reminders.

Where your data is stored

All your personal content — transactions, sources, categories, charts data, and local reminders — is stored on your device. iClara PFM does not create an account or send this content to remote servers.

Data events and migration: When upgrading versions iClara may synthesize non-personal event metadata (created at timestamps) needed for charts/trends and migration (SwiftData). These are generated and stored locally to preserve history and are never transmitted.

Exports & Local backups

iClara PFM includes export types for sharing or safekeeping your data:

  • Full local backup (JSON): Exports all sources, categories, transactions, reminders & lock settings. Replace or merge on import.
  • Deterministic filenames: Timestamped "iClaraPFMBackup-YYYY-MM-DDTHHMMSS.json" for easy identification.
  • Import validation: Checks duplicates, references, types before applying.

Restore behavior

Restoring a full backup will replace or merge local data (your choice). Defaults preserve localized names.

Privacy considerations

Backups and exports are created only when you initiate them. Once you share an exported file (for example via email or Files), that file is handled by the service you choose — we recommend only sharing with trusted recipients.

Notifications & Permissions

iClara PFM uses local notifications for reminders. App requests permission; change in iOS Settings anytime.

Third parties & Sharing

iClara PFM does not share data with analytics services by default. Exported files (backups/logs) go to your chosen share destination (Mail, Files, etc.).

Review files before sharing. Recommend diagnostics only to support.

Delete or transfer your data

Remove/overwrite data:

Switch devices? Export to Files/iCloud, transfer, restore.
